Friends of the Park Projects
Accomplished 2011 Goals:
- Host multiple festivals: Abita Earth Fest, Abita Gospel Jubilee, Playground Party
Work with the Town of Abita Springs to implement LTF Grant to provide: - Walking/Bike trail around playground with additional parking and HC access to park.
- Provide concessions at the Abita Opry & help host Abita Water Festival
- Increase awareness of FOP with updated website and publication of quarterly newletter.
- Continue reforestation efforts in Abita Park & tree giveaway to local residents
- Host a Birthday/ Membership Picnic
- Continue improvements in the playground including shoe rack, art and planting projects'
- Organize raffle for LSU season football tickets & FOP merchandise sales to raise funds .
- Continue to support Town of Abita kids' activities at Halloween & Christmas.
- Continue Recycle Abita campaign. Goal of 85% residential participation by December 2011.
